Migrating from Drupal to WordPress

The Public Interest Advocacy Center (PIAC) works for justice for disadvantaged, marginalised and vulnerable people.

PIAC is an independent, non-profit legal centre with over three decades of experience in running test cases and leading systemic change.

PIAC migrated from Drupal to WordPressPIAC commissioned Firefly to redesign and redevelop their website including their event ticketing as well as their publication archive of over 4,000 documents.

The redesigned website has a focus on human centric design principles, allowing visitors to fully engage with a huge array of available content and projects. Concise call to actions and clear pathways were introduced for key audiences.

An essential part of the project was the migration from the existing CMS (Drupal) to WordPress to simplify day to day administration. Integrated with WordPress, for content management, the new website is much simpler to administer day to day. The document library of over 4,000 documents was migrated into the CMS and indexed for fast, accurate searches. The existing document metadata was conserved as part of the migration, preserving the legacy data.

A key component was the implementation of a easy to use event ticketing system, with advanced notifications and attendee management tools. Integrated with an ecommerce platform for managing payments, events can be duplicated in the CMS to be easily reused as either free or paid events.
